Dear Parents and Carers

I am delighted to announce the launch of the new rewards system at Springwell.  It is called Kudos and our students can earn Kudos for a variety of different reasons.

Students will earn points automatically for having 100% attendance and 100% punctuality (on a weekly and termly basis).  They will also earn more Kudos points in response to each Progress Statement for each subject they are on target for.  Finally, they will automatically be awarded Kudos for receiving no behaviour sanctions each week.

In addition, students can be awarded Kudos by their teachers.  Students can earn these for the following reasons at their teacher’s discretion: School Service, Tutor Award, Prepared to Learn (having all equipment, planner and ID card for a week), Word of the Week, Effort in Lessons, Eager to Learn, Quality of Student Work, Excellent Classroom Discussion, Presentation of Work and finally Rock Star Maths.

This system has been in place since September and has been running well.  What is new, is that students can now exchange the points they receive for prizes in our new reward shop.  The more Kudos they earn, the better the prizes they will receive.  Prizes include stationery, Love2Shop vouchers, discounts off college trips or the prom, charity donations and even Bluetooth speakers or Kindles.  Students can exchange their points once a term, or can save them up over time to gain more expensive items.

All of this is in addition to the termly Lunch with the Head rewards and the yearly Achievement Evening and is aimed at rewarding every single student when they meet our consistently high expectations and motivating them to work hard, therefore gaining the best possible outcomes.

Students need to log on to www.classcharts.com to be able to redeem their Kudos points and will need their student login, which they will have been given by their tutors.  You will also be able to monitor your child’s progress and what they have been rewarded for on the same website.

I hope you agree that the new system is an exciting addition to the provision we offer students and will act as an encouragement and a reward for our students.

If you have any questions about the new system or have any feedback or suggestions, then please do not hesitate to contact me at the College.

Yours faithfully

Mr Jacques, Achievement Co-ordinator, and
Miss Staton, Deputy Headteacher
