Last week we took 15 Y10 and Y11 students to Madrid, the cosmopolitan capital of Spain.
On the first day we went to Inlingua where we practised our spoken Spanish and learnt lots of key phrases which we used during our visit. We played lots of games which enabled us to use the language around the city. The Spaniards were very impressed with how hard we tried!
We went shopping in Sol, stood in the centre of Spain and had lots of photos with famous characters like Mickey Mouse, Peppa Pig and Mr Bean. We watched the world go by in the Plaza Mayor. On the final day we went to the Royal Palace to enjoy some culture of the Spanish royal family and did a tour of the Estadio Bernabeu where Real Madrid play their games, and we also had the opportunity to have our photo taken with the Champions League trophy.
Every day we practised our spoken Spanish ordering food and drink and asking where things were. Some of us were also brave enough to try and have conversations with the local shopkeepers and random strangers on the tube!
We also enjoyed a visit to Parque Warner a theme park with lots of exciting rollercoasters and what made it even better was the Halloween theme, lots of crazy, scary and strange people wandering around.
An amazing time was had by all and hopefully to be repeated again next year……
Hasta pronto, Mrs Greaves
