On Friday 23rd March 2018, 43 intrepid Springwell students, with 5 staff accompanying, departed on the long trip to Austria.
For the vast majority of the group, this world of snow and mountains was unlike anything they had seen before and students were faced with new and challenging experiences every day.
Throughout the week there were tears; a week on the mountains is not to be taken lightly. However, there were many more smiles. By the end of the week, new skills had been learnt, new friends made, and challenges faced that, I am sure, the students would not have thought themselves capable of at the start of the week.
By the last day, we had a coachload of students who could now ski down a mountain!!
Since coming back to college, it is noticeable that we now have a cohort of passionate skiers. We look forward to planning the second Springwell ski holiday…..watch this space!!
