Parent's Forum Meeting for Parents/Carers of Y7 students only - Tuesday 24th September 2019, 6.00-7.00pm - Agenda: Introduction, Transition, Key dates for Year 7's, Communication

Attendance Notice: Springwell staff are continually striving to provide the best learning environment for our students, with a focus on good attendance for every student.Changes to guidance for attendance from Derbyshire County Council are now in place and, as of 1 September 2019, they will consider the issue of a Fixed Penalty Notice should a student have 5 unauthorised absences (rather than 10 previously) in a 5 week period.  Whilst it is appreciated that many students will not reach this threshold, it is important that you as a parent/carer are aware of these changes. The Government figure for ‘persistent absence’ remains at 90% and we will continue to work with families and students to avoid falling into this category.

Mr I Wingfield

Welcome to Springwell Community College.

Our aim is that all students who come to us are challenged and supported to success in their academic achievement, so that they leave us with the qualifications they need to progress to the next stage in their education, training or employment.

Springwell is a college where every student is encouraged and every student is known. This starts with our transition arrangements which ensure that all students are integrated into the college smoothly. Our dedicated pastoral team, which has a strong reputation locally, provides students with care, support and guidance throughout their time with us. Students tell us they feel safe and well supported at Springwell and this has been reaffirmed by Ofsted.

We are very proud of the superb facilities at Springwell. Our newly built college has been carefully designed to provide students with a modern, technology-rich learning environment, offering a balanced and varied curriculum and a wealth of extra-curricular activities.

I hope you find our website fully informative and gives you a flavour of life at Springwell.

Ian Wingfield
Headteacher

Welcome to our website from the Governing Body.

The Governing Body consists of thirteen members, all from various parts of the local community and together we help to shape the vision of the College. Our work is judged by Ofsted and it’s our responsibility to hold the Headteacher and teaching team to account. All details of our meetings can be found in the Governors’ section of this website.

Over the last few years we have overseen considerable improvements in teaching, examination results and student behaviour and well-being. Our aim is that these improvements continue and the college is judged to be good by OFSTED in the near future.

We are involved in all aspects of College life including the excellent student group, Students Matter, and the Parents’ Forum to which all parents and carers are invited. We hope to see you at many of the College events throughout the year.
